School of Economics and Management

The School of Economics and Management of NCEPU has a long history. Its predecessor was the major of 'Power Economy and Enterprise Organization', which was established in Harbin Institute of Technology in 1954 and moved to our university in 1961. In 1997, the former Department of Management Engineering, Department of Economics, and Department of Electric Power Economics merged to form the School of Business Administration. In 2009, the former School of Business Administration of NCEPU was renamed School of Economics and Management of NCEPU.


After nearly half a century of leaping development, now the school has its headquarters in Beijing and one department in its Baoding campus, the Department of Economic Management. The school currently has 208 faculty members (70 in Baoding), 184 full-time teachers (60 in Baoding), including 46 professors (13 in Baoding) and 81 associate professors (22 in Baoding). There are 4 experimental and technical staff (including 1 in Baoding), and 25 CPC and government and management staff (including 9 in Baoding).


At present, the school has two provincial key disciplines, namely Technical Economics and Management, Management Science and Engineering, and two post-doctoral research flow stations, namely Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration. It has two doctoral programs of first-level disciplines, namely Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration. The first-level doctoral program of Business Administration consists of four doctoral programs of second-level disciplines, namely Technology Economics and Management, Enterprise Management, Accounting and Energy Management. The doctoral program of the first-level doctoral program of Management Science and Engineering consists of three doctoral programs of second-level disciplines, namely Management Science and Engineering, Engineering and Project Management and Information Management Engineering. The school has 8 academic master's degree programs, including Technical Economics and Management, Management Science and Engineering, Business Management, Accounting, Quantitative Economics, Industrial Economics, Finance and Statistics. It has master's degree programs including Master of Accounting, Master of Finance, Master of Engineering Management and MBA. It has three professional master’s degree program of Project Management, Industrial Engineering and Logistics Engineering, and has the IPMP international qualification certification.


The school has 11 undergraduate programs, including Engineering Management, Engineering Cost (Baoding), Information Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, and Logistics Management. It has 2 national characteristic majors of Business Administration and Engineering Management, 1 national teaching team in Engineering Management, 2 provincial and ministerial characteristic majors, 2 Beijing teaching teams, 1 Beijing key laboratory, 3 national bilingual teaching demonstration courses, 1 national excellent video course, 7 provincial and ministerial quality courses, 1 national virtual simulation experiment center, and 1 Beijing experimental teaching demonstration center.


In the past three years, the school has obtained more than 60 vertical programs and more than 340 enterprise horizontal programs at the provincial and ministerial level, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Found of China. The scientific research fund reaches RMB 150 million, ranking in the forefront of economic and management departments of universities in China.


At present, the school has more than 6,800 students, including more than 3,100 full-time undergraduates, nearly 2,000 graduate students, and more than 1,700 students of various types of continuing education. The school always puts the quality of talent training in the first place, and is committed to cultivating senior economic and management professionals who are well developed morally, intellectually and physically, have a solid theoretical foundation, a wide range of knowledge, innovative spirit and practical ability. Over the years, the School of Economics and Management of NCEPU has also undertaken the MBA program for national power system leaders, as well as the training tasks of professional post education for constructors, chief supervising engineers, project managers, investment budgeters, accountants, human resources professionals, etc., and has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents. The school is therefore widely praised by the power industry and the society.
