The School of Control and Computer Engineering is composed of the control discipline with a history of more than 60 years and the computer discipline with a history of more than 40 years. It plays a core supporting role in the construction of 'First-class universities and disciplines of the world' of NCEPU. In the transformation and development tide of national energy and power, and under the background of vigorous promotion of the strategies 'new generation artificial intelligence', 'Internet +' and 'big data', all disciplines of the school have shown unprecedented vitality and vigor. In Sep. 2018, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education as 'one of the first national pilot colleges (departments) for the comprehensive reform of ‘Three-full Talent Education’'. In Nov. 2019, the School of Artificial Intelligence of NCEPU was established based on the School of Control and Computer Engineering.
At present, the School of Control and Computer Engineering has a doctoral program of the first-level discipline of Control Science and Engineering, a post-doctoral research flow station, and a doctorate/master's program of artificial intelligence interdisciplinary. It has three master's degree programs in Control Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology and Software Engineering, as well as the corresponding professional master's degree programs in Electronic Information. It has nine undergraduate programs, including Automation, Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument, Robot Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Security, Internet of Things Engineering, and Intelligent Science and Technology, of which Automation and Computer Science and Technology were selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate majors ('First-class universities and disciplines of the world'); it has a national-level teaching team and an excellent teaching team in Beijing of 'Automation', 'Electronic Information Education' undergraduate education innovation highland of provincial and ministerial-level colleges and universities, and provincial and ministerial-level characteristic major of 'Information Security'.
The school has more than 3,400 undergraduate students, more than 1,500 full-time masters/doctor candidates, and more than 300 faculty members. There are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), academicians of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RCAE), National Advanced Individuals of Teachers' Ethics, selected candidates of the National Talent Program, winners of the Capital Labor Medal, outstanding teachers in Beijing, outstanding teachers in Hebei Province, advanced individuals of teachers' ethics in Beijing, outstanding educators in Beijing, etc. Over the years, the school has always taken serving energy and electricity as its own duty and industry demand as its orientation. In the face of the urgent demand for advanced information theory, technology and equipment as well as professional talent team in the development of new energy and electricity, it centers on the core issue of 'training talents for whom, what talents are needed and how to train talents' and has carried out the exploration and practice of 'all-staff, whole-process and all-directional' training of electric power informatization talents with both integrity and ability, and has won 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements and 5 first prizes for provincial and ministerial teaching achievements.
The school has established the State Key Laboratory of Alternate Electrical Power System with Renewable Energy Sources, the Experimental Platform for New Technologies for Power Generation Process Measurement and Control, the Beijing Key Laboratory of New Technologies and Systems for Industrial Process Measurement and Control, the Beijing Higher Institution Engineering Research Center of Electric Information Technology, and the Ministry of Education Innovation Team for Combustion and Advanced Detection Technology, the '111' Talent Introduction Base for Intelligent Distributed Energy System and other scientific research platforms and scientific research teams; the school and CHN Energy have jointly established the 'Intelligent Power Generation Collaborative Innovation Center'. In recent years, as the host unit, the school has undertaken the national '973 Program', key special program of national key research and development plan, key program of the national '863 Program', national science and technology support plan program, key program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc., with a total scientific research funding of more than RMB 300 million, and won 1 first prize and 2 second prizes of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology , and more than 20 various provincial and ministerial science and technology awards.
