To further implement the spirit of the letter from General Secretary Xi Jinping to the international students of Peking University, guide international students to have a more real, vivid and comprehensive understanding of China and develop stronger ties of being knowledgeable about China, friendly to China, and fond of China, NCEPU held a series of activities of “Experience China with low carbon, culture and technology” from December 8th to 14th.

International students visited National Museum of China on December 8th. They first appreciated the exhibition called The Road of Rejuvenation, to learn about the explorations made by Chinese people from all walks of life who, after being reduced to a semi-colonial, semi-feudal society since the Opium War of 1840, rose up to overcome their humiliation and misery, and tried in every way possible to rejuvenate the nation. Then students viewed Ancient China exhibition, to get a comprehensive review of the nation’s political, economic, cultural and social, living development in different historical periods, to grasp the continuous progress of Chinese civilization and the historical course of building a multiethnic country, to know Chinese people’s outstanding achievements and their contributions to human civilization.

International students visited Laying the Foundation for New China—The CPC Central Committee at Xiangshan, a basic exhibition of Xiangshan Museum of Founding of New China, on the morning of December 9th. They gained knowledge of the glorious history of the CPC Central Committee during its stationing at Xiangshan through the exhibition, which contains five parts: the Going to Beiping to ‘take the rest’, Arriving at Xiangshan, Commanding the War To Liberate the Whole of China, Setting the Stage for the Founding of New China, Staying True to Our Original Purpose, Firmly Keeping in Mind Our Mission and Forging Ahead, and comprehend that the CPC led the Chinese people to achieve great victories in the new democratic revolution.

International students walked to Xiangshan Park on the noon of December 9th. They comprehended the long history and profound culture of the Chinese ancient royal garden, by climbing Xiangshan Mountain, travelling the historic sites, enjoying the beautiful sceneries along the way.

On the afternoon of December 10th, international students went to the Tiantan Hospital of Capital Medical University (new campus) to experience the advanced medical facilities of China. In the Internet medical center, they learned how to use high-end Internet medical technology and experienced diagnosis with foreign language and treatment services in the outpatient service center. By experiencing the advanced hardware facilities and international medical services, international students intuitively were impressed by the development and achievements of China’s international medical services.

International students went to Yanqing for a field survey of Beijing Winter Olympic Village on December 14th, visiting National Alpine Skiing Centre and National Sled Center of Beijing the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, learning more about the site selection, planning, and construction process of Beijing Winter Olympic Village, and seeing artificial snowmaking in the real landscape.

Li Qianyi, a student from Pakistan, said, “As General Secretary Xi said, ‘One eyewitness is better than ten hearsays. These days, I have personally apprehended the culture of China and the great historical achievements that China has made in the past century.” “Through visiting Tiantan Hospital, I saw the advanced Chinese medical equipment, clean environment and friendly medical staff,” said Abella, an international student from Turkey. Gu Qiao, an international student from Tanzania, stated that “I know the difficulties and challenges that China has faced for hosting of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and what is ‘Green Olympics, Scientific Olympics and Humanity Olympics’ that China advocates.”

The rest international students expressed that through these activities, they understood the profound Chinese history, feel the gorgeous Chinese culture and experienced advanced Chinese medical treatment and Beijing the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. They would share their friends and family with what they have seen and heard in China and play a positive role in promoting people-to-people exchanges between the Chinese and foreign people.
