International Students from International Education Institute visited the 17th China ASEAN Expo in Nanning

On November 28, 2020, two international students from International Education Institute were invited to visit the 17th China ASEAN Expo in Nanning, Guangxi.

China ASEAN Expo (hereinafter referred to as ASEAN Expo) is an international economic and trade event jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China, the competent economic and trade departments of the governments of 10 ASEAN countries (including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia) and the ASEAN Secretariat. It promotes the friendly cooperation between China and ASEAN and serves the "one belt and one road". It plays an important role in the construction of "road" and has great influence in the world, especially in Southeast Asia. At the invitation of the organizer of the Expo, our university selected a doctoral student, Emile Niringiyimana, and a master student, Gasana Abednego, to attend the Expo.


The focus of the two international students was the commodity trade exhibition area. In the China Commodity exhibition area, international students saw many smart energy and power equipment, construction machinery and transportation vehicles, food processing and packaging machinery, etc. Gasana Abednego said that what impressed him most was the new solar energy system products, which were widely used, complemented each other with excellent and reliable performance.

In addition, international students were also interested in environmental protection, highly integrated new energy battery systems, artificial intelligence vehicles, etc., and have conducted relevant exchanges with technical personnel in the exhibition area.

At the Expo, international students also visited epidemic prevention and health supplies and equipment, special agricultural products and intelligent communication technology exhibition and equipment of China and ASEAN countries. The international students were deeply impressed by the China ASEAN Information Port. The technical personnel in the information port have exchanged with the international students on the topics of 5G, artificial intelligence, Beidou application and digital silk road construction. Through the exchange, the international students realized that for most developing countries in Southeast Asia, the rapid development of digital economy will not only reap the dividend of digital industrialization development, but also benefit from the development of digital industry Digital transformation promotes economic and social transformation and upgrading.

In the “one belt, one road” international exhibition area, all kinds of exhibits, including specialty foods, consumer goods and service products, have their own characteristics. The ASEAN Expo also adopts the mode of "physical Exhibition + cloud Exhibition" and adds Internet transaction modes such as "live broadcast with goods". International students experienced a rich and colorful trade festival gathered by the various products and trade mode from countries of “one belt, one road”.

After the visit, the students also had cultural exchanges with the exhibitors of domestic and foreign enterprises at the ASEAN expo, and experienced such folk cultural activities as "Nanning International Folk Song Art Festival" and "Southeast Asian Customs".

At the ASEAN Expo, international students experienced economic and trade activities, as well as mutual dialogues and exchanges among governments, enterprises, experts and scholars. This enables the students to have a deep understanding of commodity trading mode, foreign investment, product technology promotion and other business activities, and appreciate the broad world of international trade.
